Our story,
our mission
The Netherlands and Europe
With skin cancer people often think of sunny and warm countries. And that's not entirely unjustified, the risk of skin cancer is indeed highest in New Zealand and Australia. However, what is very surprising and disturbing is that the top 10 countries where the risk of getting skin cancer is highest, consist of no less than 7 (!) European countries. The Netherlands ranks sixth in this top 10. These figuresdon't say everything, but they do say a lot. Namely, that in Europe and in the Netherlands there is a world waiting when it comes to UV protection and skin cancer prevention.
Clothing and sun screen
There are several ways to protect yourself from the sun and harmful UV radiation. This can be done by applying sunscreen, by simply avoiding the sun and also by wearing covering clothing that protects your skin from the harmful effects that the sun can have. Sunscreen is perhaps the best-known and most common way to protect the skin against sunburn. With sunscreen, you need to keep applying tomaintain its maximum effect, no sunscreen is 100% waterproof and it is difficult to completely cover all parts of the skin. These are risks you limit when wearing UV clothing. That is why it is advisable to wear UV clothing and apply sunscreen. Clothes and applying sunscreen! Not every garment protects against UV rays equally well. Special UV clothing provides constant protection comparable to a cream with SPF 50, even in the swimming pool or in the sea! So remember: Clothes and sunscreen! The best way to protect yourself from the harmful effects of the sun. UV clothing is strong, durable and can be passed on to siblings, and from generation to generation.
Stronger together
UV-Fashions thinks it’s important to contribute in various ways to (skin) cancer prevention and awareness. UV-Fashions is a business friend of the KWF Cancer Fund and donates a fixed amount to this fund every month. With these donations we generate money, create awareness, contribute to prevention and make skin cancer research possible. All this in order to be able to control this disease in the future.
Awareness
Not so long ago you were laughed at if you wore a ski helmet on the slopes. Wearing such a helmet is the norm nowadays and skiers without a helmet cause disapproving faces. This is also the case up when it comes to whether or not to wear UV clothing. Why expose yourself or your children unnecessarily to the dangers of the sun and sunburn? UV-Fashions wants everyone to have the opportunity to protect their children and themselves from the dangers of the sun.UV-Fashions therefore chooses to keep the range of high-quality UV clothing affordable and accessible for everyone.
